Module 6: Taking Lecture notes

By, Ahmad Faris

INTRODUCTION OF ASSIGNMENT

First place that we had a class at ued is at dewan kuliah 1. There was not quite nice, but its suitable to us as a student. First of all, there is 3 lectures in front of us that makes they are our class teacher for class A11E. After that they had been making us a group at the slide, so we can easily find our group for assignment. When we finished, they explained to us about the working and the dateline of the assignment. We had two assignment, the first one is an individual, the second one is grouping assignment.

WHY MUST WE TAKING A NOTES?

Next, they give us our first module in ued call taking lecture notes. The important of taking notes is it will remind us if we review the notes after the class. It also helps us to study for exams. Besides, the notes will be our references after text book because anything that lectures may come on the exams. Who knows right?

WHY MUST WE REVIEWING NOTES?

Reviewing the notes is the most important part to get prepared for an exam. We must review our notes to remind us easily about the subject, such as using numbering on the notes. We must been sleepy and feel tired if we read a text book because all the text is in passages. That makes student feel to much for them to read it. Second, also write a date on the top left of your notes. This will makes you easily check our notes for the day that you wrote.

NOTES METHOD
They had many styles that we can use to take notes:-

  • ·        Key point
  • ·        Outlining
  • ·        Mapping
TO MAKE A GOOD NOTES

To write good notes, we must be an active listener so that we can take all the important notes that the lecturer said. And also pay attention to lecture also makes us catch up all the important point that we can make as notes. Besides, in order to make you understand the notes, use your own English so that you can easily understand what are you wrote. Rewrite your notes also make you more understand because is like we read the notes twice. Lastly, discuss with your friend, it may help you if the notes is incorrect.

WHILE TAKING NOTES

While taking notes, you must listen carefully about the key points only, it may help you to write quickly and get prepared early for another key points. Besides, ask a question if you not sure about the points that you not understand. If a certain words that you not understand, you can also seek out the meaning by find it in a dictionary.

WHEN YOUR INSTRUCTOR ISNT TOO INTERSTING?

A certain things that student often says that  “our lecture is so boring, that makes me so sleepy in the class, how I am going to take notes if sleepy?”. This matter has the solution. First things first, you must seat in front of the class and get prepared of your material to take a notes. Its also easier to read at the board and can see the lecture more easily. We can catch up of what lecture said if look his mouth while his or her talking. If you get boring, ask some question to the lecture to makes you are active in the class or you can suggest to the lecture to make some quiz for the student, so all the student will prepared and ready for question that will given. Next, be a volunteer to do anything lecture gives. Its might help you to not feel sleepy in the class.

BEFORE AND IN THE CLASS

Before the class has started, students must review their notes at least the day before class, because it may help you to more understand and has already some question to ask to lecture. In the class, better seat near the front instead of centre. Its because you will get a better vision and better hearing. Lastly, avoid distraction such as doorways, chatting nonsense with your friends or getting distract by phone. As a student in y generation, we will not running to use a gadget especially mobile phone. Nowadays, mobile phone attracted the students by Instagram, Whatsapp, Wechat, and Twitter. This media social can makes you lose your concentrate and important point in the class. So my advice is silent your phone when you in the class.

But it will affect your assignments marks because certain university or office has their own apps to identify plagiarism. So, we must avoid plagiarism because it will cause fail in our assignment.

These are the following considered plagiarism:-
